This lab is an application of feedback control for a temperature control device.

There are two heaters and two temperature sensors. The heater power output is
adjusted to maintain a desired temperature setpoint. Thermal energy from the heater
is transferred by conduction, convection, and radiation to the temperature sensor.
Heat is also transferred away from the device to the surroundings. This lab is a
resource for model identification and controller development. It is a pocket-sized
lab with the purpose of reinforcing programming, simulation, and control theory for
students.

To run the Simulink interface, open arduino_lab.slx. This Simulink model requires
the Arduino support package for MATLAB (not the Simulink Arduino) that is available
as an Add-on from https://www.mathworks.com/hardware-support/arduino-matlab.html
There are more setup instructions posted to the address printed on the Arduino
device: https://apmonitor.com/heat.htm A GitHub repository also contains sample
source code: https://github.com/APMonitor/arduino

Once the Arduino Support for MATLAB add-on is installed, open arduino_lab.slx. If
there is an error on the real-time pacer block, check that the run directory for
MATLAB has realtime_pacer_lib.mdl and the other supporting m files.

Please contact support at support@apmonitor.com for any questions related to the

lab.
