Student Checklist- Final Exams

(ITU Electrical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering)

Spring 2020

The final exams conducted by the ITU Electrical Engineering Department are scheduled to start from 6 August
2020. To ensure a smooth conduct of the exams, certain proactive steps have to be taken by the students to ensure
that they have made the necessary arrangements to undertake the final exams in an uninterrupted manner at their
home. In this context, the following checklist of necessary steps that the students should take is being shared. It is
mandatory for all EED students that they should complete this form and give an undertaking that they will take
all necessary steps to ensure the stated requirements. Please note that you will not be allowed to appear for the
exams unless you have completed this form and attested it by the stated deadline (to be advertised on email).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------

I hereby confirm that it is my responsibility to ensure that I have arranged the following as a preparation for the
online examinations being conducted by the ITU EED for the Spring 2020 semester.*

(Please tick the box below against statement)

 󠄁 Power supply: The equipment on which I am working (laptop, computer) for online exam duration
will be ensured to be fully charged in advance with adequate backup power supply readily available at
home.

 󠄁 System readiness: I will ensure that all required input/output devices such as keyboard, mouse,
speakers, microphone, built-in system camera or webcam are ready and well-functioning before the
exam. Similarly, microphone has been tested to be working fine in case of communication with
invigilator during exam. I will be logged on to the relevant Google Meet room shared by Academics and
EE Administration. My system speakers will be set to ON in order to receive any important updates from
the invigilator or course instructor regarding exam.

 󠄁 Equipment for monitoring: I understand that exam video will be continuously recorded on Google
Meet. I also recognize that invigilator may wish to monitor my place of exam at my home and that I will
show the invigilator a 360-degree view of the room, including tabletop over Google Meet before the start
of the exam when asked. I also understand that the invigilator may ask me to show the view of my room,
at any time during the exam. I have ensured the availability of the built-in camera or webcam to comply
with such a request.

 󠄁 Keeping abreast of all announcements made: I will be logged on the relevant Google Meet room
and will ensure that I follow all announcements made. In case, I’m disconnected for a short while, I will
check the announcements shared on the Chat tab of the relevant Google Meet room.

 󠄁 Internet connectivity: Since the seamless internet connectivity is inevitable for smooth submission
of answers online, I will ensure that my internet system is arranged with a redundant backup (e.g., backup
Internet connection in case the primary connection fails) to ensure maximum continuous connectivity.
In case of a disconnection from main internet, I will ensure that back-up internet system or internet device
or data connection or hotspot is immediately available with sufficient data package at my end in order to
warrant submission of each exam within the stipulated time.

 󠄁 Software and accounts: I have installed and readied all the general software required for exam
purpose such as Internet Browser, Google Classroom, and Google Meet. I will ensure that I have
activated my account on LMS and Google Classroom using my official ITU email ID.

 󠄁 Compliance with the ITU Faculty of Engineering Online Examination Honor Code: I have read
the ITU Faculty of Engineering Online Exam Honor Code and I take an oath that I will comply with it.
I will not unfairly collaborate with others (including my class-fellows) using any communication media
(including WhatsApp, telephone, voice or text chat, SMS) or in person. In case, I fail to upload my oath
on the ITU FoE Online Examination Honor Code, I acknowledge that the ITU FoE reserves the right to
take appropriate punitive measures.

 󠄁 Paper quality, scanning and PDF upload: For all exams, I will ensure the availability of blank A4
size pages for solving questions with dark coloured pen (blue/black). I will ensure that I have adequate
scanning resources at my end (such as phone camera with high resolution selected, scanner, or scanning
app such as CamScanner or Adobe Scan) that will permit me to convert handwritten work to PDF format
which I can submit online. I will practice beforehand the entire process and will also ensure that I am
aware of the method for compressing large PDF scanned files into reasonable size allowed by the
LMS/Google Classroom.

 󠄁 Privacy and physical location: I will ensure that as much as is possible I will be alone in a room with
no one else entering into the room during the exam session. The space where I will take my exams to be
well lit, adequately ventilated and free from interruption and disturbances. I will not talk to any person
in any way related to the exam during my exam hours.
