PROCEDURES:
1. Look at the work of microscopic photography for ideas for the
composition:
2. Using these examples, make several contour studies of the
magnifications,
3. Experiment with 12 different watercolor techniques on a small
Bristol board. (see handout)
Stretch the watercolor paper on the drawing boards.
Transfer with graphite onto watercolor paper. Keep the lines light.
Demonstrate the watercolor techniques, Wash, Wet on wet, and
Lifting (gradation). Use paper towels to dry up the brush for the
lifting technique. Practice a small area of the composition by
transferring a small area on scrap board. | have them do this for a
grade.
7. Start when ready using many layers of color to bring out the
transparency of watercolor. Be sure to use the wet on wet
technique.
