1.

You perform a Trihybrid cross of an aaBBCc organism and an AaBBCc organism, then

what fraction of the offspring are expected to be aaBBcc? How about the expected
fraction of offspring that are AaBBCC? Lastly, what fraction of offspring are predicted to
be aaBbCc?Show all work. Do not just write final fractions!!
2. You perform a cross of an AaBbCcDDEe organism and an AaBBCcddee organism, then
what fraction of the offspring are expected to be AaBBccDdEe? How about the fraction
of offspring that are expected to be AaBbccddEe? Show all work. Do not just write
final fractions!!
3. You perform a Trihybrid cross of an AaBBCc organism and an AabbCc organism, then
what fraction of the offspring are expected to be AaBbcc? How about the expected
fraction of offspring that are AABbCC? Lastly, what fraction of offspring are predicted to
be aaBbCc? Show all work. Do not just write final fractions!!
4. Explain the purpose of a "test cross".  Then answer the following two questions:

1) If you perform a dihybrid cross and notice that the resulting offspring include wild type
flies as well as some sepia flies, then what does this tell you?

2)  If instead the resulting offspring of a dihybrid cross resulted in all of the flies having
red eyes and long oval wings, then what does that tell you?

5. You perform a cross of a homozygous wild type fly and a sepia fly.  You then cross the
F1 heterozygous flies together for a monohybrid cross.  First write out what the genotype
of the heterozygous flies are, and then write out the predicted genotypic ratio of the
offspring (be specific...do not just give numbers, give numbers and genotypes).
6. What is the F1 genotype in our dihybrid cross and what F2 phenotypic ratio is predicted
for that cross? (Do not just write the numbers...write the numbers and the phenotypes)
7. Explain what a testcross is (what is its purpose and how is it performed).  Then explain
what it would tell you if you performed a monohybrid test cross and discovered that half
of the resulting offspring had wild type red eyes and half the resulting offspring had sepia
eyes.
8. Explain the difference between Diploid and Haploid chromosome numbers, and give the
human example of each.  Also state what types of cells would be diploid, and which cells
would be haploid in a human.
9. You perform a cross of a homozygous wild type fly and a sepia fly.  You then cross the
F1 heterozygous flies together for a monohybrid cross.  First write out what the genotype
of the heterozygous flies are, and then write out the predicted phenotypic ratio of the
offspring (be specific...do not just give numbers, give numbers and phenotypes).
10. Explain how a dihybrid cross differs from a monohybrid cross.  Specify how many alleles
an organism must have per trait and how many alleles must be written per organism in a
dihybrid cross.
