The Human Resources department plays a very significant role in any
successful organization whether in recruiting, developing or reinforcing the values of the company. From my experience as a Duty Manager, I got a glimpse of how important and crucial an HR role can be. One of my responsibilities was recruiting new hires who are fit for the posted job. Personally, the challenging part of this specific role was rejecting unsuitable candidates; it is always a very delicate situation especially after interviewing a candidate and getting to build a connection with them. Therefore I have always made sure to send a personalized email along with the rejection letter; mentioning minor, constructive details from our interaction as well as underlining their strengths to motivate them to reach for future openings. This technique never failed to attract more candidates to our company as well as make existing employees more comfortable in their positions; which made me stand out in my job.
Another very unique accomplishment was evaluation and training junior
fellow flight attendants, this opportunity was a great scope to improve my manager skills set. Working in an aircraft required me to think quickly on my feet and adapt to any given obstacle in front of me. Apart from facing very critical situations in general with guests or crews; training and evaluating a new Cabin Crew Member; 4000ft above sea was a new challenge in my career journey that I believe has taught me alot about myself. With much practice, I found that at a certain point, new training methods just started to come to me naturally and as more time eventually passed I was more comfortable to step right into new responsibilities and get the job done more effectively.
In conclusion; given my past work experiences, I found myself excelling in
the Human Resources part of my jobs and decided to delve deeper into HRM to help me decide which path of Human Resources Management is right for me.
