A. RESUME OF DISSCUSSION FORUM : SWING OF PENDULUM AND CYBER
PEDAGOGY

During the pandemic of covid 19 Education Government states the teaching-learning activities should be
held by using the digital Platform. Teacher and student should maximize the digital platform such as e-
learning or mobile assisted in the learning process. This situation is known as Cyber pedagogy which means
the teacher presents the learning process by using online digital platform. Hopefully it can stimulate the
student to do learning activity actively. Many digital platform can be used by teacher in cyber learning such
as
1. E-Learning
My school has already used e-learning which is named Simaskot Yayasan Al Azhar. It provides
many digital platform such as video of youtube, uploading file, text, link, video conference and
evaluation form.

2. Google Classroom
It has similar operation activityto e-learning. It is integrated to many cyber platforrm too.

3. Mobile assisted such as What’s app or telegram.


Those digital platform are expected to help the students to improve their knowledge and practical
use effectively. In the other side The teacher should remind that the most important thing in teaching
is not
“What will the student be?” but “How will they be?”
It means the important thing in learning is a process. So the teacher should be able to build the good
characters during the learning process. As the result the student not only have good knowledge but also
character or attitude.

The statement is proved by Nuril Mulfidah in swing of pendulum that mentions a mechanical system
composed of a rope-tied mass that freely swings as the response of gravitational force. Based on the
swing Pendulum theory, the learning process is symbolize as a rope-tied which means the teacher freely
and creatively to guide the learning process by using ICT or high technology but still need to concern about
the characteristic of learning integrity and pedagogy. In this case Student can learn by searching many
information in the cyber platform but they still expect to get detail explanation from teacher in order to
confirm or review of their knowledge. As the result Swing of Pendulum theory means that the role of teacher
can’t substitute by the high technology.

Beside that the theory of Swing of Pendulum reminds the teacher that there are still many regions
or districts can’t be reached by cyber pedagogy. They don’t have the facilities and electricity to improve
their information and communication by using cyber platform. So the teacher should has a role as the high
technology media. They can provide a real model around the environment. As the result that the blackboard
or whiteboard is still the most important technology as the learning media now. . Why ? Because Teacher in
the city use white board to give the detail information about material is similar to the primitive city that still
use blackboard as the primary media to explain the material. As pak Teguh, lecture of Unikama claim that
the best media in teaching learning process is Blacbord.

B. RESUME OF MODULE 5 : ENGLISH FOR ENGLISH FOR PRATICAL USE

English is language of communication by using words and phrases that convey the specific meanings in
order to create personal and public interaction. Beside that English has purpose to do social relationship,
entertain someone or do practical use. English For Specific Purpose In English for Pratical use means that
language provides written or orall communication in doing public presentation independencely in order to
reach the particular goal of life. Based on module 5 There are many ways to present English for pratical
communication, such as’

Procedural text or we are known as procedure text is a text that explains or helps us how to make or
use something. The Communicative purpose of this text is to describe how something is made through a
sequence of actions or steps. Then, Procedure text provides generic structure and language features to
help student or people create the qualified text in written or orally. The generic structure of procedure
text are goal, material or inggridients and instructions or steps.Then, the language features of this text are
➢ Using simple present tense.
➢ Using adverbial of sequence or using temporal adjective.
➢ Using imperative sentences or command.
➢ Using action verbs.
➢ Using conjunctions to link a process to another process.
➢ Using adverb of time to express details of time.
Procedure text is very useful in the people life. It help us do something appropriately. As the result
many procedure text that can been seen in the reality life. Procedure text presents three kind of useful
text based on the its purpose. They are

2. News Item
News item is a text which informs readers about events of the day. The events are considered
newsworthy or important and reports an important event that should be known by many people. In order
to create the good text of news item, student should conside two elements. The first is generic structure
which are
➢ Main Events / Newsworthy event(s) → recounts the event in summary form.
➢ Elaboration / Background event(s) → elaborate what happened, to whom, in what circumstance
➢ Resource of Information (Source) → contains comments by participants in, witnesses to and
authorities expert on the event
The second is featurinf of the languge that help the student to express their idea such as

Coronavirus Fake News and Xiaomi

Last week saw the viral spread on Indonesia social media of the “news” that said Xiaomi smartphones
could somehow spread the coronavirus.

Though logic-defying and blatantly fake, this piece of news was picked up by online news portals and
made viral by many social media users. As an analyst at Maverick, the epidemiology of this fake news
item is fascinating for me, as it contains lessons about its contagious pathways and what could be done
in future outbreaks.

Using Newswhip, one of the listening tools that we subscribe to, we determined that the Ground Zero
of the coronavirus-Xiaomi fake news outbreak was online news portal Suara.com on January 27. The
story went viral because of the large number of interactions on its Facebook account.
Data obtained at 9:00 AM Jakarta time on January 29, 2020.

Although there is much interaction in the form of comments, it bode well for Xiaomi because most of
its readers mocked those who were taken in by the fake news. The same findings were also found in the
comment section of other media like idntimes.com and cnbcindonesia.com. Suara.com’s overwhelming
number of interactions, however, suggests that it is probably the most influential online news portal for
news of such nature.

What we also found in our social listening was that almost all articles in the period of January 27-29
quoted statements from relevant authorities, such as the Health Ministry and the Communication and
Information Technology Ministry, which clearly said that the information about Xiaomi smartphones
spreading the virus was fake news.

A result of this timely action by the authorities was that the number of interactions on posts about this
news dropped drastically after its debut on 27th.

What are the takeouts from this flash of virality on social media?
First, if there are credible third parties—such as the ministries in this case—that are willing to debunk
the fake news, the issues will quickly go down. In this instance, the news of a handphone being able to
spread a virus stretched credibility to begin with, but the timely intervention of authorities will be crucial
in other instances. Brands would do well to cultivate their relationships with these authorities and to
update them when issues like this break out.

Second, there is no real need for brands to give response to stories on social media and online news
portals in every instance. In this case, Xiaomi chose to keep silent throughout and the storm in a teacup
passed without any impact on the brand.

It is not a bad strategy and a safe one for Xiaomi. In the heat of the moment, many brands often have a
knee-jerk reaction, which more often than not drags them deeper into crisis-like situations. Instead,
Xiaomi waited it out and, in later developments, rolled out a campaign to fight hoaxes and fake truths
titled “MikirBaruKirim” (“Think Before You Send”).

Alternatively, Xiaomi could have also used the incident as an opportunity to raise awareness of its brand.
Xiaomi could, for instance, replied to the fake news by posting something like, “We know our
smartphones are powerful, but surely not so powerful that it can even spread viruses?” Such a response
could result in consumers appreciating the responsiveness and tongue-in-cheek brashness of Xiaomi, not
a bad attribute to cultivate considering its target demographic. However, such a move would also have
its risks as it could boomerang on the brand. It would have to test this response out on a small but
indicative sample of netizens before executing it.

Third, brands should realize that stories like these spread with speed and like wildfire. It is important to
be able to monitor its spread—not unlike epidemiologists looking at how a disease spreads—to plan an
appropriate response.

To do this for our clients, we subscribe to online listening tools such as Newswhip, Brandwatch,
and Talkwalker, and we also train analysts like myself and my colleagues on what to look out for. That,
combined with our consultants’ experience and knowledge on managing crisis and issues, will ensure
that brands react optimally in any viral-like situations in the future.

The news above reflect the the stuation in 21 st century. Nowdays the developing of technology has
improved rapidly and the information can be accesed easily without consider the authentically event.
Because of this situation many hoax news or fake information are published freely in the cyber sites. Some
people share the fake information which hide the specific purpose or intention like getting profit or money.
As the teacher we should be more careful the hoax news especially in teaching news item. Teacher should be
more wisely in presenting the news. Because ithe teacher doesn’t realize about the authtical of the news. The
student will become the victim of cyber crime like tricking of cyber information and bullying. In addition it
can influence the psychology of student which can give bad paradigm and character building. In order to
avoid the hoax news, the teacher can give tricks to analyze it such as
1. Read all the content of news sites
It means that student shouldn’t be able to the tittle without read all the content of text. If the news is
fake orhoax, the information isn’t relevance to the tittle of news
2. Don’t trust to the picture
tudents can check the authenticity of a photo by using the Google search engine, by dragging and
dropping it into the Google Images search field. The search results will present similar images on the
internet so they can be compared.
Teacher should pay attention to the news which has been given to the student.If the news provides
the picture the teacher should check the authentical of picture and text. The picture and text should be
relevanced
3. Check accurany of news by observing the source
Pay attention to the website address For information obtained from websites or links, students should
pay attention to the URL address. If it is from unofficial websites, it can be ensured that it is
untrustworthy news.

3. Intinerary
Intinerary is defined as a schedule of events relating to a planned travel which is generally including destinations
to be visited at a specified time and the means of transportation to move between those destinations. An
itinerary usually contains any information dealing with travel or journey such as schedule of visit, time, dates,
transportation, and other information. It is very useful for the pratical use in our life. Because it can
