Alexandra Levasseur(2013)

The person behind this very emotional artwork is Alexandra Levasseur. A visual artist living and
working in Montreal for 8 years already. She mostly works on paintings and animated films where the
main themes revolve around nature, identity and perception. “In this era of crisis and anxiety, my work
questions our perception of the reality based on our limited human senses and knowledge of nature.” she
said in her blog.
We can see a lot of elements and principles present in this piece. We can see a lot of lines going
on in the background and in the shirt of the girl. I can also notice some shapes in the background. Form
that’s free flowing is present too. Color that is well blended and I think in person there is a texture
because she uses because according to her blog she finishes her paintings using oil painting. Principles
present are Variety and movement.
This work of her I think it reflects one of the quote, ” No one can construct for you the bridge
upon which precisely you must cross the stream of life, no one but you yourself alone.” By Friedrich

Nietzsche. We sometimes lose ourselves in the process of life, all of us has our own downfalls. But no
one can pick up you only yourself.
