Issue/Introduction:
Our Client POSB Bank wanted to implement Veeam License on their environment. We were
not able to login the Veeam Server.

Challenges:
POSB Veeam Backup Server was failing due to insufficient Storage from NetApp. We later
on discovered that the Storage Virtual Machine was 100% full. Backup Veeam Backup Jobs
were also failing since there was no free space to store the backups.
This can be a big problem in the event that critical mission machines/ servers failed the bank
will not have a fail-safe plan.

Resolution:
We managed to increase storage space for the Volume by Auto Growing and
Shrink the Volume as indicated in the screenshots below:
Fig 2. Indicating Automatic Resize

With the automatic Resize we only managed to increase storage from zero (0)
bytes to 131.51 GB which is not enough to run backups.

Storage Environment Assessment

From the storage assessment we conducted, we discovered that there was no room
to expand Volumes since all the space is already occupied and they are
approaching their full capacities. As indicated on the below all the Aggregates are
above 90%:

This left the bank with no room for storage expansion.

Conclusion and Recommendations
1. The bank has to add more disk shelves to expand storage capacity
2. Frequently monitor Aggregates, Volumes and LUNs.
