My Sexual Self

When I was a kid my mind was clouded with a lot of things, It was filled with
things like playing all day outside, studying, and making tons of friends. There was not
a good opportunity to talk about the sexual self. Also a typical Filipino family is
conservative and sensitive to things like this especially when talking about sex. As a kid
I grew to be curious to a lot of things, I needed an explanation why this would happen
and asked my parents about how did they made me or my brothers as usual the only
reply you would get is a metaphor about life and God’s plans for us. On the other hand
when I was on my 6th grade in school a topic about the reproductive organ was
introduced to us. That was when I first get to know about my sexual self. When we are
tackling the topics like these kids usually laugh like me because the word penis and
vagina are mentioned frequently.
Little did I know things like this would be beneficial in my life when I will
confront things like these. About time I reach my teenage years I was getting more
curious about my sexual self that I find ways to learn more about this in the net and a
bunch of stuff was shown and I kind of got flustered with the videos that I found. Later
then I’ve watch videos like that because I find it amusing and pleasing to my mental
health until I got caught watching forbidden things by my parent. The time has came
for them to scold me that these things that I’ve been watching are for the grown ups. I
will have to take responsibility to my actions because I’m getting older. I listened to
them and stopped watching anymore but my curiosity about the “sex” have become
clearer in my head. Things like that maybe arousing but It can lead to addiction and
pregnancy to your partner if things got out of hand. In my junior high school days these
topic we’re introduced again but now it included the risk of doing sex to an illness and
pregnancy. Many problems could happen if I do not know what I am doing so this
made my curiosity about sex almost gone.
Looking back in my teenage years I did not regret watching films like that
because it made me more knowledgeable about things that its too sensitive to talk to
and I think that culture of us being conservative just leads to more problems if we do
not talk about it. It’s better for the kid to know what lies ahead and the gravity of
responsibility. The world is not all cupcakes and rainbows, It also contain a much more
harsh and darker times. On the whole there are a lot of factors that can affect our
sexuality it just depends when learn it and how well can we deal with it.
