Dunklin R-5 School District Parents/Guardians,
Earlier today our administrative team was notified that several students at Herculaneum High
‘School who played in our football game this past Friday evening received a lab-confirmed
Positive COVID-19 test. These individuals were last in attendance on September 14, 2020. After
‘speaking to the Jefferson County Health Department, as well as out of an abundance of caution,
‘students participating on the Junior Varsity and Varsity football team will be asked to not to
return to school for 14 days from the date of contact. Students and staff members who came
into direct contact with the individuals have already been notified.
While the Dunklin R-5 School district will make every effort to provide a safe and healthy
environment for our students and staff, there are inherent risks with participation in group
activities. While we cannot guarantee that students or faculty members will not be exposed to
the virus, our district will continue to prioritize the safety of everyone involved in all school
activities and make every effort to minimize those risks.
‘As we have done throughout this school year, all areas of Herculaneum High School will be
thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. According to the Centers for Disease Control, people with
COVID-19 have a wide range of symptoms similar to the flu or cold including fever, coughing,
and shortness of breath. Symptoms can range from mild to severe and may appear 2-14 days
after exposure to the virus, The CDC says it is spread via person-to-person contact via
contaminated air droplets. If you are exhibiting symptoms or believe you may have been
exposed, please call your medical provider.
The safety of our staff and students remains our top priority. As a school community, we will
continue to follow the recommended guidelines from county health officials.
Respeetfully,
Clr Fre
