Time

Management
• It is a measure of the passing away of life… So,
Time is Life!
• It is a precious resource…We have only 24 hours
in a day
• It is irreplaceable…Time, unlike wealth, once lost,
can’t be gained back
• It is something you can’t have enough of
• It is something to be respected... Not only your
own time, but also other people’s!
• If not managed well, it is can create stress.
In Quran and Prophetic life there are many verses and incidents about time
Surah 63: 10 , 11

“And spend [in the way of Allah ] from what We have provided you before
death approaches one of you and he says, "My Lord, if only You would
delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the
righteous."

“But never will Allah delay a soul when its time has come. And Allah is
Acquainted with what you do.”
Allah says:
“ By the time, Verily Man is in loss, Except
such as have Faith, And do righteous
deeds, And (join together) in the mutual
enjoining of Truth and of Sabr (patience &
constancy).”
Hassann ul Basra ( RA) said,
“when a person gets up in the morning the
day says to the person.
‘O Son of Adam , I am a new creation you
utilize me properly, I am witness to your
deeds and action, if I go I will not come back
again’.”
How to use time ?
Time management is not changing your time but
it is changing your habits .

People who learn time management will utilize

time properly.

People who manage time will be:

1. Successful
2. Hardworking.

HADITH
The Prophet (s.a.w) said: “On the Day of Resurrection
the feet of the son of Adam will not move away till
he is questioned about five matters:
1. On what he spent his life
2. In doing what he made his youth pass away
3. From where he acquired his wealth
4. How he spent it (wealth)
5. What he did regarding his knowledge.”
( Tirmidhi)
Reasons for wasting time

1. No goal / no vision

2. No planning to achieve the

goal

3. Not giving enough

importance to priorities

4. Procrastination
Procrastination ( postpone)
• This is the time’s villain ….postpone
• Intelligent people will do tomorrow’s work
today.
• Average person will do today's work today
• Lethargic person will do today job tomorrow.
Steps to save time
Delegate the job

Telephone ( decide what to talk and make a simple talk)

Don’t involve unknown work

Don’t overload yourself

Do not do incomplete work

Identify the people who come for wasting our time

Spend money to save time (If by spending money, your work reduces

and you find time, then do it)

Organize properly
Stealing time
• We need to utilize, even the
minute second available

• Utilize the time when ever

possible . Like places banks,
hospitals, travelling etc…

• This is call stealing the time.

Ibn Abbas (R.A) narrates that the Prophet
(S.A.W) said, “There are two blessings which
many people lose. (They are) health and free
time for doing good” (Bukhari)
No concept of free time in Islam
A believer is never ‘free’; he
does not have excess time
because there is too much to
be done. If you have time left
over from your duties, stand
for worship. If you are already
doing this and still have time,
do some more.
“So when you have finished (your duties) then stand
up (for worship) and to your Lord turn your
invocation.” Quran 94:7,8
Evaluation

• Evaluation is a vital step

• Unfortunately, this is the most neglected

step of the three.

Umar (R.A) said, “Before you get evaluated,

evaluate yourself”
How to Evaluate?

Develop the habit of writing

dairy …….. Review it
periodically.

E.g.: reading Quran , hadith,

contact’s, relation with
relatives , friends etc….
Hadith
Aisha ( R.A) reported that prophet (P.B.U.H)
said
“ Rise early your living and do your affairs, for
it brings about blessing and success.”
[at-Tabarani]
Hadith
Allah’s Messenger (S.A.W) said: “Grasp five things
before five others:
1.your youth before your old age
2. your health before your illness
3. your riches before your poverty
4. your leisure before your work
5. your life before your death.”
(Tirmidhi)
Conclusion

DO A REGULAR INTROSPECTION OF ONESELF

- What am I doing for my tomorrow (my Hereafter)?
- What are my duties & am I doing them (worship, etc)?
- What are my dealings with people? Am I giving them their
rights?
- What is my character, manners & habits like?
- Have I stopped lying, backbiting, telling tales, aimless talk,
sarcasm and doing activities which waste time?
- Where is my wealth coming from & how am I spending it?
