He threw the blood covered stick into the fire. He washed up himself and his clothes.
He had cut out the bits of his clothes that were stained and burnt them but there were
.still blood stones on the floor

Mr. Brownlow kidnapped him and told him everything about his work with the gang.  
He also told him that his father wrote a will but Monk's mother destroyed it. At the
moment, Monks realized that there is no escape and admitted everything. Mr.Brownlow
.made him sign a confession in front of witnesses
