We all know that teachers set specific criteria based on learning outcomes and expected levels

of performance to evaluate student’s learning. Teachers cannot just made decisions based on personal
means. So for me, my understanding about the basic concepts of high quality assessment which are
measurement, assessment and evaluation are all used in evaluating student’s learning.

We all know that measurement is usually used and often heard in science as one of a step in
elevating a field of study in science to take measurements of the quantities and qualities. In education, it
is also used as a process of quantifying an individual’s achievement, personality, and attitudes among
other means of appropriate measuring instruments.

Assessment is a full range of information gathered and synthesized by teachers about their
students and their classrooms. Assessment is way of teacher in gathering, collecting, organizing data of
what students knows, understand and is able to do. It also helps to identify student’s learning needs.
Assessment is not just assessing the progress of the students as well as the effectiveness as teacher.

Evaluation refers to the comparison of data to standard for purpose of judging worth or quality.
Also a systematic determination of a subject’s merit, worth and significance using criteria governed by
set of standards. Also a process of making judgments about quality of a performance, product, skill or
behavior of a student.
