Introduction

Coping means to invest one's own conscious effort, to solve personal and

interpersonal problems, in order to try to master, minimize or
tolerate stress and conflict.
The psychological coping mechanisms are commonly termed coping
strategies or coping skills. The term coping generally refers to adaptive (constructive)
coping strategies. That is strategies which reduce stress. In contrast, other coping
strategies may be coined as maladaptive, if they increase stress. Maladaptive coping
is therefore also described, when looking at the outcome, as non-coping.
Furthermore, the term coping generally refers to reactive coping, i.e. the coping
response which follows the stressor. This differs from proactive coping, in which a
coping response aims to neutralize a future stressor. Subconscious or non-conscious
strategies (e.g. defense mechanisms) are generally excluded from the area of coping.

The effectiveness of the coping effort depends on the type of stress, the individual,
and the circumstances. Coping responses are partly controlled
by personality (habitual traits), but also partly by the social environment, particularly
the nature of the stressful environment.

According to psychologist Hans Selye the situations can be both positive and
negative; it requires adjustment and this could also be stressful. The concept of
stress can be divided into ‘Eustress (Positive stress) and Distress (Negative Stress)
Both stress types can be taxing to a person’s resources and coping skills though
distress will probably do more harm to an individual. Similarly, children and
adolescents can experience variety of stressors ranging from appalling or shocking
life events, unfortunate hassles and tension. These are the vital factors affecting
young people’s well-being and mental health

Being away from our parents because they are abroad doesn’t mean that we
cannnot complete our life, but instead there is this coping mechanisms that can
make us ready and prepared for the incoming struggles and battles in our life. It
makes us prepared as we grow old and with this factors, we can really know the real
meaning of what it’s like to live as a person here in the world we stand on. We need
to adapt because it is a way for to grow and be matured as a person even though our
parents are not here beside us. We can cope by adapting, going with the flow,
enjoying our life, and learning to fight on our own because Coping is our weapon to
solve the things that blocks our life into the path of success.
