makes sense? ha,
My half sleeve's meaning I don't realy tell
anyone about lol. I's a secret x and the
rib piece means, 'd rather be dead than
a caged bird - both done by Steve Whit-
tenberger. My Sailor Moon was done by
Nikko Hurtado and my Wicked Witch of
the West was done by Paul Acker. They're
both part of my sleeve in the making of all
my childhood characters.
My favorites right now would be Paul
‘Ackerand Nikko Hurtado. | LOVEhow they
make the tattoo look like an actual paint-
ing. The colors, details..'m obsessed.

a ) TL: Kelly, you seem to be everywhere these days.
= How did you get started in modeling?
| guess it all started back when | was working at my second
7 Tattoo shop in 2009, A photographer was hired to come in and
take photos ofall he artists fr the shop website. The other 3
® artists shot forless then 3 minutes, | shot for 2 hours. remem
ber seeing the expression on hisface ater looking through the
photos, he said, "Have you ever thought about modeling be-
fore? After that, Iwas hooked.
TL: What (ifany) are your inspirations for your tattoos?
My tattoos are my life story. Every image on my arm is about
‘my progression as a human being and what influenced me
growing up.
TL: What kind of rad, crazy stuffdo you do when you're not
being a gorgeous model?
Well 1m also a makeup Artist. | spend a lot of time working at
MAC (which | love!) If 'm not working or shooting, 'm usually
‘at home painting in my studio..... or watching cartoons... AND
GOING ON MAGICAL ADVENTURES!
TL: You've had some great experiences already in your
‘modeling career. What things do you have up and coming?
| recently took a trip to Hollywood to co-star in the Escape the
Fate music video, which was a blast! 'm definitely looking for-
ward to starring in more music videos in the future. Also, Tim
“Miller (Who sculpts the action figures for Marvel) isin the pro-
‘cess of creating a Kelly Eden doll. How cool is that?!|also finally
graduated college. I've been working 4 long years to get my
Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts
''m also planning on Visiting London, France, and Japan this
year!
TL: Are you involved in other arts besides tattoos and
‘modeling?
Well, as | mentioned above, | just graduated from the Rocky
‘Mountain College of Art and Design with my Bachelors in fine
arts. Ive been involved in the arts nearly my entire life, | guess
you could say | was somewhat of a prodigy child. My talent and
passion for the arts was recognized at a very young age.
| excel at hyper realistic portraiture on a very large scale. Most
‘of my oil paintings are 6 feet tall Artis more than a beauti-
ful object to hang on the wall. It is a vehicle for understand-
ing myself. Making art is ike dreaming, Itis a way to sort out
the problems of my mind. In this way, at is about expressing
personal issues. Art functions simultaneously as a therapeu-
tic process and as a method for expressing my attitudes and
beliefsLe eee en eee ce Ee

L,Besides functioning as a therapeutic tool, | also Use art
to discuss the issues face as a woman in this Society.
| create paintings and drawings that express my inner
conflicts, misery, and desites. These conifiets have to
do with my personal experiences concerning strug-
ling with my identity, and exploting the differences
between looking at myself, women, and men. There
are many confusing messages that society sends to
women, and in my art, [raise these issues for both
myself and the viewer to ponder. Another important
spect of my work is the question of who is the artist
and who is the object of the art. | create self-portraits
that complicate the idea of the artistic genius captur-
ing the object of beauty. By the “object of beauty’ lam

's no fixed perception of what is ideal. The standards
cf beauty are forever evolving, in accordance with the
fashion of the time, and | am concerned with society's
