What are the significant learning’s you acquired from the video?

Caring of children with respiratory and complex process that requires knowledge and skills. The video
was very informative and it focuses on the physical examination, Consideration for intubated patient
and Re assessment and monitoring. I have plenty of significant acquired from the video that includes the
hand hygiene protocol by DOH which I think very vital in caring for the patient and protecting the health
care providers. I had also reviewed some of the terminologies like tachypnea, bradypnea, apnea and
dyspnea. It was emphasized here that physical examination can be done by looking, listen and feel. By
looking at the patient you have to assess the breathing effort of the patient, punching, face, Skin color,
trachea, respiratory pattern, respiratory distress and Inspiratory to expiratory ratio which should be 1:2.
Listen is when you auscultate the lung sounds, by listening you can differentiate the normal and
abnormal lung sounds. Abnormal lung sounds include wheezing, rales/crackles, stridor, rhonchi and
whooping. Through auscultation you can also hear the quality of breath sounds just like clear, coarse
and silent. Feel is when you do palpation, one of the example for palpation is tactile fremitus. I also
learned that there are plenty of consideration for the intubated patient such as assessing the position of
the endotracheal tube, breathing comfort and air leak. Emergency equipment is also important just like
oxygen source, mask, suction source, yankauer suction, and soft suction. And last significant learning I
acquired is we have to rea assess the patient and monitor the patient with intubation. I appreciate these
assessment and monitoring are very important in giving quality care to the patient with respiratory
disorder.
