According to the aspirations and intellects of limitless beings,

The profound and extensive modes of Dharma are uncountable.

Nevertheless, having essentialized them into key points which can be practiced,

I will explain them to you as the essence of my heart advice for my heart friends.

Attached to this life, the potential for Dharma is lost.

Relentlessly pursuing desire after desire increases craving.

One finds that the moment of success never arrives.

Looking for happiness, fame, and glory in this way is like buying and selling in a 
dream. You should give this up!

By relying on excellent authentic spiritual guides,

Qualities expand and

All errors and faults are cast aside.

Therefore, you should attend to the three ways of serving such spiritual guides and also 
work to benefit others.

Just as one cannot claim that gardens are to be found in the sky,

Higher rebirths, transcendence, and all forms of excellence, 
2±:-hÜ0<-o:-:-7e³$-/7Ü-U/<-0è+-ý<Ê Ê
Are not to found without the practice of ethical conduct. 
l,-;è<-/#-8ë+-Q,-ý<-9$-{æ+-*ß:Ê Ê
Therefore, subdue your own mindstream through watchful mindfulness.

Beginninglessly, in conditioned existence, in the dark realms of ignorance,

Without a spiritual guide, you have wandered until now like a mad person.

Now, in order to find the excellent abode of peace and happiness, 
#<ß$-9/-{-02ì-0(,-:-‡ë-/9-9Ü#<Ê Ê
You should delight in listening to the ocean of Buddhist teachings. 
 
*ë<-ý-10-bÜ<-…ë-7+ë#<-0Ü-&ë+-%Ü$-Ê Ê
However, since merely listening does not resolve misunderstandings 
Yë,-+$-/Y,-:-8Ü+-&è<-Cè<-+!7-/<Ê Ê
And because it is difficult to have irreversible trust in the teachers and the doctrine, 
Ië+-7&+-Ië0-ý7Ü-e-/-/{-n#-#Ü<Ê Ê 
Therefore, by [engaging] in hundreds of debates, explanations, and writings, 
/<0-e³$-;è<-9/-*ß#<-`Ü-/%°+-¸¥-Yè,Ê Ê
You should rely on the wisdom which arises through intellectual thought, the core 
essence of mind. 
 
#º¥$-:ß#<-9/-7e0<-‰-/7Ü-Yë,-&è,-8$-Ê Ê
[Some] great teachers can recite infinite scriptures, 
9$-{æ+-0-/·â:-,è-1ì7Ü-7+ë,-ý-7lÊ Ê
But without training their own minds, they are reciting like parrots. 
7&Ü-/-/1,-*/<-7ë$<-,-7bë+-ý7Ü-{æÊ Ê
When the moment of death suddenly arrives, they will be regretful. 
#+0<-+ë,-XÜ$-:-Yè,-%Ü#-XÜ$-ië#<-F0<Ê Ê
Heart friends, you must practice the essential meaning of the teachings.

All the infinite ways of Dharma presented by multitudes of buddhas

Are taught as skillful means for simply subduing your own mindstream. 
2Ý#-:-0-7&è:-+ë,-bÜ-6/-#,+-0&ë# Ê
Not believing just the words, the excellent key points of the profound meaning 
XÜ$-#Ü-/%°+-¸¥-YÜ0<-5è<-y9-8$-/U¨:Ê Ê
Must dissolve into the core essence of your heart‐mind. Once again, I exhort you. 
 
Cè+-+!7Ü-Dè,-7+Ü->ß-4¡-9-7lÊ Ê
The support [for the practice of Dharma], this [human life], like an udumvara flower, is 
difficult to find. 
,ë9-/ß-7/ß0-:<-T#-ý7Ü-+ë,-7o<-Q,Ê Ê
Achieving it is more valuable than a hundred thousand jewels. 
dÜ-,<-7+Ü-7l-;Ü,-·â-Cè+-+!7-/<Ê Ê
A human life such as this is very difficult to find in the future. 
+ë,-&è,-7¸¥,-0-/…å/-:-0-#8è:-%Ü# Ê
Therefore, attain the goal of the highest meaning and don’t be lazy. 
 
7&Ü-/+#-+i-&è,-,0-0"7Ü-*ë#-7l-/Ê Ê
The great enemy, the Lord of Death, strikes like lightning in the sky. 
,0-10-*ë,-ý-<ß<-`$-+ýë#-0Ü-¹¥<Ê Ê
No one is able to say when this will happen. 
:ë-+$-w-/9-Zë+-ý7Ü-:ë$<-0è+-`Ü<Ê Ê
Since you may not live for months and years,

Now, in this way, at this moment, is the time to practice Dharma!

For all beings, the results of actions cannot be avoided.

When it is time for them to ripen, nothing can be done. 
+-P-U:-Q,-9$-+/$-8ë+-¸¥<-7+Ü9Ê Ê
Now, fortunate ones, when you are still in control,
9$-#Ü<-9$-(Ü+-/yä<-,-<ß-8Ü<-þë/Ê Ê
If you deceive yourselves, who is there to protect you?

The various sufferings in the wheel of life are difficult to bear. 
l,-ý-10-bÜ-/-\ä-#8ë-¹¥<-,Ê Ê
If just thinking about them makes the hairs on your body stand on end, 
/i$-8<-¸¥ï"<-:ß<-<è0<-#¸¥$-/7Ü-2éÊ Ê
When your own body and mind become afflicted with countless sufferings 
'Ü-7l-8Ü,-5è<-9$-:-ië<-0ë:-03ì+Ê Ê
Ask yourself: What will that be like? Then heed your own advice. 
 
7+Ü-7l7Ü-7'Ü#<-&è,-;Ü,-·â-*9-+!7-:<Ê Ê
Escaping something so terrifying is extremely difficult. 
7lè,-ý7Ü-¹¥<-Q,-#5,-,<-Cè+-0Ü-rÜ+Ê Ê
Other than those who have the ability to guide us through, no other possibility exists. 
/yä-0è+-0aè,-/Iè-¹¥<-ý7Ü-/+#-(Ü+-%,Ê Ê
Therefore, the infallible Great Ones endowed with knowledge, compassion, and 
Power— 
9Ü,-&è,-F0-#<ß0-þ/<-<ß-/Dè,-ý9-9Ü#<Ê Ê
The Three Precious Ones— you should take them as your refuge.

The sufferings of the three places of conditioned existence come from wishing for one’s 
own happiness.

All happiness and virtue arises from considering the welfare of others. 
+è-dÜ9-T-0Ü7Ü-Yë,-ý7Ü-Bè<-/Xè#<-)èÊ Ê
Therefore, following the buddhas who are the teachers of devas and men, 
v-0è+-e$-&±/-<è0<-0&ë#-/þè+-ý9-9Ü#<Ê Ê
You should generate the unsurpassable supreme mind of enlightenment. 
 
9$-{æ+-9Ü#<-"0<-;è:-+!9->¡-+9-;Ê Ê
The buddha nature of your own mindstream is like a mirror. 
uë-/ß9-…Ü/-ý7Ü-Eã:-bÜ<-&è9-#8ë#<-,Ê Ê
When completely obscured by the dust of adventitious defilements, 
6/-#<:-)Ü$-73Ý,-#6ß#<-/C,-7&9-+!7-/<Ê Ê
It is difficult for the reflection of a profound and luminous meditative state to arise. 
Yë/<-/5Ü7Ü-9:-+!9-$:-/<-/þë+-ý9-7ë<Ê Ê
Therefore, you should remove the dust with the virtuous cloth of the four powers. 
 
[$-i#<-9Ü#-ý-T-W#<-&ë<-(Ü+-$$-Ê Ê
In the continuum of appearances, sound, and awareness as deity, mantra, and ultimate 
reality, 
8è-,<-8Ü,-ý9-;è<-ý7Ü-P-/-+$-Ê Ê
Without loosing the View of knowing that it has always been this way, 
0-o:-Vë0-ý7Ü-0+è7ß-"-/€ç9-e<-,Ê Ê
When you direct the arrow of Meditation,

You will achieve the mastery of removing obstructions and attracting students. 
 
rë#-Ië:-eè+-/%Ü$<-:ß<-`Ü-7ná:-7"ë9-bÜ<Ê Ê
By freeing and holding the life force prana through physical yogic exercises, 
/+è-#<:-0Ü-Dë#-ië#<-<ß-7μ¥#-¹¥<-,Ê Ê
When you can easily generate bliss, clarity, and no thought, 
7ë+-#<:-€ç-07Ü-:ß<-:-+/$-7eë9-dÜ9Ê Ê
Then, in order to master the illusory body of wisdom’s luminosity, 
Jë#<-9Ü0-*ß#<-`Ü-*Ü#-:è9-/YÜ0-ý9-9Ü#<Ê Ê
According to the phase of completion, you should continually merge [these 
experiences] into the essence of mind. 
 
XÜ#<-M7Ü-0ß,-ý-T#-ý9-/+ë-U/<-<ßÊ Ê
When the darkness of the five degenerations is utterly rampant, 
*è#-/{+-{æ-U9-7ë+-`Ü<-7'ë0<-+!7-/<Ê Ê
It will be difficult to overcome this with the starlight of the Eight Vehicles. 
8$-#<:-XÜ$-*Ü#-(Ü-07Ü-6è9-nè$-7/ß0Ê Ê
Therefore, the most brilliant sunlight of the Nying Thik with its countless rays 
++-#<ß0-D-/¸¥,-aë#<-`Ü<-7lè,-ý9-9Ü#<Ê Ê
Should be established by the powerful chariot of the three types of faith. 
 
#$-;9-9Ü#-ý-0-/%ë<-{-8,-:Ê
Whatever arises, remain in uncontrived and unrestrained pure awareness (rigpa). 
9$-//<-9$-/5#-$$-¸¥-Pë<-;Ü#-+$-Ê Ê
Within the continuum of the mind naturally settled and naturally poised, remain in 
meditative equipoise.

When you recognize natural luminosity which is primordially empty and without root, 
<-:0-%Ü#-&ë#-7o<-/ß7Ü-#),-rÜ+-6Ü,Ê Ê
All at once, you will seize the everlasting realm which is the fruition of all the levels and 
paths. 

 
%ë#-/5#-$$-,<-/º¥#<-Y$<-#6Ü#<-Y$<-`Ü<Ê Ê
Within the continuum of being settled in just this way, through postures and gazes, 
9$-[$-+eÜ$<-*Ü#-9Ü#-ý9-:ë$<-+-,Ê Ê
When you experience the naturally manifest expanse, the bindus, and [the vajra chains 
of] pure awareness, 
#6ß$-73Ý,-7"ë9-/7Ü-0ß,-ý-+eÜ$<-<ß-8:Ê Ê
The darkness of the wheel of life’s dualism will disappear into space. 
[$-/5Ü-0*9-7aë:-7.ë-&è,-7ë+-U¨9-^Ü,Ê Ê
When you reach the end of the four manifestations, you will be ripened into the light‐
body of great transference.

What I have spoken is my sincere advice presented colloquially and in stanzas.

Although it is not in the poetic style that delights highly educated people, 
*ë:-e³$-të$-Eë:-7+è0<-#-\$<-ý-7+ÜÊ Ê
It is the spontaneous welling forth [of my mind] without deliberately chosen words,

The natural style which pleases the masters of awareness of the Ancient Translation.

And, even for a moment, may I never be separate

From the spiritual bravery of the youthful Manjushri!

In a solitary place on China’s Five‐Peaked Mountain, on the mountain peak where the supreme 
deity, Youthful Manjushri, turned the wheel of the profound and vast Dharma for ten thousand 
bodhisattvas, this was composed, without revision, in a time span of twenty‐three minutes by 
Ngawang Lodro Tsungme [Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok Jungne].
