Abstract

The researchers chose this study to know what are the factors that affect the decision of the
students of Pangasinan State University Lingayen Campus in choosing BSEd English instead of
BSEd Filipino. Knowing that Filipino is the national language of the Philippines while English is
the universal language used to communicate with other people. In addition to this, Filipino serves
as an effective tool which also represents the Filipinos. This study is very essential because
through this, people will know the reasons of the BSED English on choosing this course and were
able to see the correlation between different factors to the decision made by the said colleges.
The respondents in the study were the 1-3 year BSED college in Pangasinan State University-
Lingayen.
Based on the results, the researchers come up with the following conclusions: the factor that
greatly influence the decisions of the students were their personal interest. Next, the influence of
their family or relatives. Lastly, were the peers who accounted as the lowest is also identified with
the lowest percentage.
The researchers recommend further assessment in order to know that the following results of the
study is applicable to all students who chose BSEd English instead of BSEd Filipino.
