Factors Behind Pakistan's Creation

The partition of Bengal in 1905 separated the largely Muslim eastern areas from the largely Hindu western areas. This caused tensions as the Hindu population dominated business and rural life in Bengal and felt they would become a minority in the new province incorporating Bihar and Orissa. Most Muslims supported the partition as it would address issues of rising nationalism, inequality, and the dominance of Hindus over land ownership and political power in Bengal at the time.
