Dear Mandolinists: While producing this lesson with Norman and Nancy, I was continually amazed at the purity and beauty of their playing and the clarity of their teaching. I firmly believe that by learning these extraordinary tunes, you will give your repetoire new depth and increase your understanding of the mandolin and its many possibilities. Each of the songs taught here is a gem. Learn the notes, memorize the tunes and practice them until you are comfortable with them. Most importantly, though, pay special attention to the musicality and sensitivity with which Norman and Nancy play. I believe you'll learn a great deal about music in general and your instrument in particular, by listen- ing to these two master musicians as they work through theses rare and unusual pieces. Above all, enjoy the music and the process of learning.
