3 Overview
Overview
The latest release of Mincom Ellipse introduces exciting
new functionality and enhanced technical capability.
The following provides an overview of some of the features
that are available.
Advanced Contracts Administration
Sophisticated valuation facilities and the management of
variations such as adjustments and extensions of time,
makes the Advanced Contracts Administration module a
superior tool for the management of contracts.
Integrated quality assurance, along with facilities for pre-
payments, additional completion payments, retentions and
liquidated damages provide for controlled management of
negotiated contracts.
Daily Planner
This new module provides a daily view of work scheduling
and supports the following:
• Assignment of multiple individuals to individual
work orders and maintenance tasks
• Assignments spread over employee shifts, dates and
crews
• Shift/daily views of jobs scheduled during the shift/
day, and
• Jobs spread over multiple days and shifts.
Materials Demand Management
Materials Demand Management (MDM) complements
existing Mincom Ellipse purchasing functionality. It
supports maintenance groups that undertake activities
where future workload is accurately planned and past usage
is not a reliable indication of future materials demand.
The activities catered for by MDM include equipment
overhauls and changes to maintenance requirements
necessitated by an increase/decrease in planned
production.
The MDM process supports the following functions:
• Selection of jobs to be included in MDM
• Identification of the material requirements of each
job
• Summarization of material requirements by planning
period
• Identification of material supply, incorporating both
outstanding and planned purchase orders
• Comparison of requirements and supply by planning
period,
• Reporting of the purchase actions required to
balance supply and demand.
Mincom LinkOne
The latest release of Mincom LinkOne contains a
configuration screen that allows Mincom Ellipse and
Mincom LinkOne to be easily integrated.
A new spreadsheet import facility improves the migration
of existing configuration files and the management of bulk
changes to Mincom LinkOne connection information.
Mincom MineMarket
Mincom MineMarket is an integral part of Mincom’s
Mining Solution and it provides the visibility of the entire
sales and marketing process and supply chain, while
supporting the mining business process.
This enhancement ensures that movement of material
between stockpiles in the Mincom Ellipse Production
Statistics module will automatically result in corresponding
movements in MineMarket Logistics module. The log-sheet
entry facility in Mincom Ellipse now provides seamless
integration of stockpile movements between both
applications.
 Mincom Ellipse 5.2.3 Overview
Mincom Envoy Buyer
E-procurement can be optionally added to Mincom Ellipse
5.2.3 through the use of Mincom Envoy Buyer. Its web
based applications provide sourcing assistance for the
procurement of goods and services within a closed trading
community using internal and virtual catalogues.
Mincom Axis
Mincom Ellipse 5.2.3 integrates with Mincom Axis to
provide an organization with its own e-business hub. It
enables end-to-end transactional exchange (i.e. Purchase
Orders and Invoices) with suppliers, e-marketplaces and
any other organizations with whom business will be
conducted.
Global Purchasing Agreements
Global Purchasing Agreements (GPA) provides
sophisticated negotiation and management of contracts for
the future purchase of material. It includes configurable
price structures and flexible item pricing levels, which
replace the need to record contract item price for each
district. Contract versions are supported and history
between contracts may be maintained.
GPA’s support contractual arrangements for both
inventory and direct charge purchasing, without the current
district pricing constraints.
Mincom Output Designer
Mincom Ellipse reporting has been further enhanced by
“fax enabling” the purchase order , quotation and
expediting letter documents. These documents can now be
directed to either a fax queue or a printer.

Enterprise Application Integration
The flexible, XML based Enterprise Application
Integration (EAI) architecture provided with Mincom
Ellipse 5.2.3 scales from simple point-to-point integrations
through to fully-brokered EAI solutions. Its open
architecture supports leading EAI products from
companies such as IBM, SeeBeyond, BEA, Oracle and
Webmethods.
Oracle CAI
Mincom Ellipse 5.2.3 is certified with Oracle 11i R3, and
the Mincom Ellipse/Oracle General Ledger drill-back
functionality has been enhanced. Users can now drill down
from a summary view of transactions into a detailed view
within the Oracle application.
Permit to Work
This functionality supports the management of plant
isolation. Not only will it help ensure that plant is isolated
and safe during maintenance activity, but it will also ensure
that plant operators can determine the exact status of plant
they operate and maintain.
