 EXPLANATION
Although Rizal completed a thesis for his doctorate in medicine,
he did not technically receive this degree, since he did not appear
to read his thesis aloud as required by the Central University of
Madrid. At the time Rizal completed the thesis, he was already
studying ophthalmology in Germany.
He claimed a Sobresaliente in studying of Advanced Normal
and Pathological Histology and in History of Medical Science
and then Bueno claimed for Surgical Analysis Applied to the
Medical Science. That’s for the Doctorate in Medicine.
The Studying of Doctorate in Medicine of Rizal is takes a year
accomplished it. According to my research it was a secret mission
or studying of doctorate in medicine because Rizal and the
Professor of him was under the State of Spain so it was very hard
to study but with the help of other people he got a knowledge.
Rizal also finished his studies in Philosophy and Letters, with
higher grades. He was awarded the degree of Licentiate in
Philosophy and Letters by the Central de Madrid on June 19,
1885, with rating of “Excellent” . He became qualified to be
professor of humanities in any Spanish University. And receiving
his degree of Licentiate Medicine, he became a full-fledged
physician, qualified to practice medicine.
