Actual Conversations from Corporate America (ACA)

Topic book:
- Title: “​実践ビジネス英会話​” (Actual Conversations from
Corporate America)
- Composed of dialogues on practical business topics. The topics cover
the following themes (arranged in chapters): “At the Workplace”, “At
Meetings and Presentations”, “During Business Negotiations”, “At a
Business Lunch or Dinner/Gathering”, and “Miscellaneous Conversation
Topics.”
- The dialogues mainly utilize business expressions commonly used in the
US.
- The portions on the book to be taken up during lessons are the dialogue,
vocabulary., and useful expressions.
- Comes with one audio CD (All dialogues are in English; there is no
Japanese translation)
- The book will cover in 78 lessons, inclusive of Recall & Practice, spanning
approximately 19 months.
Note: Recall & Practice (RP) comes after every three lessons, except for
the last which comes after the fifth lesson. RPs total 19.
● RPFSL – Recall & Practice (RP) is a 25-minute oral and/or listening
exercises to check retention of the
previous 3 lessons. Free Style Lesson (FSL) is a 20-minute
discussion/presentation of the
class’ chosen topic, interview or game, which is decided a week
before the lesson.

どを行います。
Objectives:
1) To provide learners with business scenarios presented through
dialogues
2) To provide learners with practical business expressions useful for daily
conversations at work
3) To provide learners with an atmosphere that demystifies business
English, i.e., to realize that
business English is easy to learn just like other skills
4) To hone learners’ English conversational skills, with special attention to
syntax and vocabulary
practice, through discussion and applicable exercises
5) To enhance learners’ listening skills through regular listening to the audio
CD and attentive
participation during discussions, and various exercises
6) To develop learners’ reading skills with special focus on comprehension
and pronunciation.
7) To build learners’ vocabulary skills through various exercises
8) To develop writing skills through homework and/or exercises
9) To build learners’ resolve to expose themselves to English, especially in
speaking, as language
proficiency is acquired through practice

英語は、他のスキルと同じように、学ぶのが簡単なことだと実感していただくこと
4) ​ディスカッションや応用問題を通し、構文やボキャブラリーの練習に特に注目しながら皆さん
の英会話力を磨くこと
5) ​日ごろからＣＤを聞き、ディスカッションや様々なエクササイズに積極的に参加することで、
ラーナーの皆さんのリスニングスキルを高めること
6) ​特に読解と発音に注目し、ラーナーの皆さんのリーディングスキルを高めること
7) ​様々なエクササイズを通して、ラーナーの皆さんの語彙力を増やすこと
8) ​宿題、レヴュー/またはエクササイズを通してライティングスキルを身につけること
9) ​言語習得、特に話すこと、は練習することによって身についていくものなので、英語にたくさ
ん触れていくことに対して、ラーナーの皆さんの強い意志を持っていただくこと
