To stay healthy we need a balanced diet, exercise and rest. We need to avoid things like smoking,
alcohol and drugs as they damage our bodies in different ways.

A healthy diet is essential for a healthy body.

Food is what gives us energy to live our lives. Foods are split into four main groups _ fats,
carbohydrates, proteins and vitamins and minerals. Carbohydrates give our bodies energy. They are
foods such as pasta, potatoes and bread. Proteins help us to grow and repair cells. They are foods
such as meat and fish. Fats also give us energy. Food like butter and cheese are fats.

Vitamins and minerals help us to stay healthy. Wefind this in fruits and vegetables.

Water is also very important for a healthy diet.
