3. DEFINITION O F PROCESS

3.1 General
• Waterproofing system insulation will be used to prevent ground water from penetrating
within reinforcement concrete slab and controlled at the temperature and humidity to
specific levels without risk of condensation.
3.2 Materials
• All materials will be selected as per the contract.
• The contractor will submit all waterproofing system to the owner for approval.
• Membrane rolls will be stored vertically in a dry place protected from sun and weather.
3.3 Installation of Water proofing membrane
• The area of application shall be barricaded and provided with warning signs to prevent or
give warning to workers, other than those involved in this work, from moving within.
• All preparation and other installation shall be completed prior to installation of
waterproofing and all repair work for concrete have to be done and agreed by client before
start of waterproofing.
• Application shall be monitored continuously by site engineer and QA/QC engineer so that
timely inspection of hold points can be performed by client without delay.
• Bottle neck have to be performed smoothly in the perpendicular edges.
• Install one Coat of Primer Before application of waterproofing.
• Heating membrane rolls with flame torch to desired properties according to manufactured
recommendations.
• A protection layer of masonry will be performed for the transformer walls to protect the
vertical membrane.
3.4 Installation of Cold insulation
• The area of application shall be barricaded and provided with warning signs to prevent or
give warning to workers, other than those involved in this work, from moving within.
• Application shall be monitored continuously by site engineer and QA/QC engineer so that
timely inspection of hold points can be performed by client without delay.
• Application shall be one coat of Primer Prior application of cold insulation which consist of

3.5 Installation of Water Stops: -

• Before installation, uncoil water stops (especially for those water stops have shape-
memories) to let it resume straight shape - that makes water stop easy to handle and
fabricate.
• Check the water stop whether it has any defects or cracks. Replace the defective and
unacceptable water stops.
• Place Water stops at appropriate position. Make sure that about a half width of it is
embedded in the concrete.
• contain about 1.5 times of clear coverage between the water stop and surround
reinforcement steel without any rock pockets or air voids.
• Tie the water stop to surrounding reinforcement steel by threading steel wire to metal
eyelets, punched holes or hot rings of water stop to fix the water stop firmly. Meanwhile
make sure there is no displacement during fastening.
• Pour the concrete and vibrate concrete nearby the joints (especially those under the water
stop) to enhance the contact with water stops.
• Clean debris and dirt of concrete surface after first pour.
• Repeat the above methods for a second pour.
