Unit of Study?   
We  are  going  to  be  starting  a  new  unit  called  “​El  capibara  con  botas.​”  El 
capibara  con  botas  is  a  novel  in  Spanish.  In  the  novel  there  is  a  capybara 
named  Carlos  who  lives  in  the  Amazon.  Carlos  is  not  like other capybaras in 
his  family  because  he  cannot  swim  well.  Carlos  wears  special  boots  that  let 
him  run  fast.  The  Amazon  gets  destroyed  and  Carlos’s  community  will  need 
his help to save it. Will Carlos be able help his community? 
 
   
What students will be learning?  
 
The  students  will  be  reading  a  novel  written  in  the  present  tense  in  Spanish. 
The  novel  uses  many  cognates  and  repetition  to  make  the  Spanish 
language  comprehensible  to  the  learners.  The  book  touches  upon  themes 
such as friendship and believing in yourself.  
 
 
How will students be learning?  
 
The students will be learning through a variety of activities: 
-Reading comprehension activities 
-Listening Comprehension activities 
-Reader’s theater 
-YouTube videos 
-Storyboards  
-Drawing activities 
-Video activities  
-All activities will be done with digital tools.  
 
  
Games to play at home 
 
Charades  -  Use  vocabulary  words  from  the  unit  and  play  charades  with the 
family and friends! 
 
Bingo  -  Create  your  own  bingo  board  game  and  play  with  vocabulary  from 
the unit.  
 
Pictionary  -  Draw  vocabulary  from unit and have family members or friends 
guess what the word is.
