Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the

world”.

I came to this university in order to have this education and I believe you are all here for the same
purpose. We came here to learn, to be educated and to become better individuals in the near future.

I believe that all of us, being citizens of this country and being students, have freedom. Freedom to live.
Freedom to love and freedom to laugh. And of course we also have the freedom to express ourselves, to
exercise our freedom, especially the freedom to choose a party or an organization. As the Philippine
constitution provides, we have the rights to form organizations or unions and no one who is only human
has the right to suppress that freedom.

As a student of this noble institution, I believe I have the right to run for any position which I think I can
function well as a student leader and I can serve my follow students. Before I’ve reached here in this
gymnasium, there were a lot of events that happened the moment I declared that I will run as Board of
Trustee.

There were threats coming from our rivals, telling us to withdraw our candidacy because if we don’t,
they’ll do something against us. But why? Why is there a need for this people to do ,that? I only want to
serve you my dear fellow students. I have no dream to be sitting at the board of regents. My only dream
is to serve my fellow students through the Federation of Student Councils.

That dream brought me this far. That dream gave me courage to resist the temptations from the evil.
And now here I am standing in front of you, strong enough and willing to safeguard your rights and
welfare. This is the essence of education. Resist evil and pursue what is good.

This is Mary Joy Roxas, your Board of Trustee from the School of Criminal Justice Education, asking you
my dear fellow BiPSUnistas, to join us, the SUPER-KAYABE in changing and creating a Credible, Honest,
Reliable and a Pro-Student Student Council.
