UPSC Prelims 2020: Postponement Plea to be heard next on September
UPSC Civil Services 2020 Prelims Hearing in SC 30
UPSC Prelims 2020 Postponement plea would now be heard on
September 30, 2020. The Supreme Court has asked Union Public Service
Commission, UPSC, to file a reply as to why the IAS, IPS recruitment
examination cannot be postponed. “Deferring the exam further would
nullify the objective of conducting the exam for various government
departments,” Advocate Naresh Kaushik has argued. Check out more

UPSC Postponement Plea to be taken up on Wednesday - September 30


Justice Khanwilkar has asked UPSC to file an a idavit in the court. The
matter would now be taken up on September 30. Adv Anushree Kapadia
has also been asked to file a copy of the IA to the UPSC Counsel and othr
parties and asked UPSC to take care of the same in their reply.

Impossible to delay UPSC Prelims: UPSC


Adv. Naresh Kaushik has appeared for the UPSC. He states that it is
impossible to postpone the examination. Justice Khanwilkar asks him to
submit an a idavit listing the reasons why the examination cannot be
postponed. The matter adjourned, to be taken up on Wednesday.

Aspirants not hopeful of getting UPSC Prelims postponed with recent SC


verdicts for other exams
Many aspirants are not too hopeful of the exams getting postponed. With
recent verdicts of Supreme Court to conduct NEET 2020 exam, which has
three times the number of candidates, the chances seem low. "I am
preparing for my exams...I don't think the exams can get postponed so
why bother? SC has more of less made it clear that it is not inclined to
postpone any exams!" shared Ratan who is planning to appear for the
examination. This would be his third attempt at UPSC.

Nearly 6 lakh candidates to appear for UPSC Prelims 2020 on October 4,


many front line workers
While the apex court has rejected pleas for postponement of national
level entrance examinations like JEE and NEET 2020, the petitioners
arguing for postponement of UPSC Prelims 2020 have shared how there
is a material di erence in the two categories of exam. Plea has pointed
out that many of the aspirants of UPSC Prelims are front line workers,
who have either cotracted the disease or have been too busy to take the
necessary time o for preparing for the exam. As many as 6 lakh
candidates are expected to appear for the UPSC Prelims 2020 exam.

UPSC Prelims 2020 date postponement plea to be heard by 2 judge

2 Judge Bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar and Sanjiv Khanna would be
hearing the plea to postpone UPSC Civil Services 2020 prelims
examination. The bench has also permitted the petitioner to serve an
advance copy of the petition on the Standing Counsel for the UPSC as
well as the Central Agency representing the Union of India. Plea is asking
for UPSC Prelims 2020 exams to be postponed by 2 to 3 months due to
coronavirus pandemic.

Father of CAPF serving o icer preparing for UPSC Prelims also submits
request to postpone
Among the requests to postpone is also a rquest from a father of a
serving o icer of CAPF. The application requests intervetion from the
Supreme Court sharing that his son and many like him who have been
working as frontline workers have not been able to take preparatory
leave due to the pandemic. The letter further states that conducting the
examination now is an injustice to many such aspirants who have been
serving the nation and society in these di icult times.

SC to hear petition to postpone UPSC Prelims 2020 Date


Supreme Court of India would be hearing the petition today for News

aspirants who are requesting for intervention to postpone the

therefore delayed as it does not entail any academic year. They have
further contested that many candidates are frontline workers in the
COVID19 crisis and would be unable to attend or would be at a
disadvantage.

UPSC Prelims 2020 Dates- Hearing to begin soon


The UPSC Civil Services Prelims was supposed to be conducted on May
20, 2020, earlier. Due to the pandemic outbreak, the exam was postponed
to a later date which was finally decided to be October 4, 2020. While
