Dear Deseree:
Each term, | undertake one of the most enjoyable tasks of being President of
Western Oregon University, I have the honor of notifying those students who have
earned a 4.0 grade point average that they are on the President's Honor Roll. You
are on that list Fall term 2020.
You are among a special group of students, those who have earned the highest grade
possible in each course they took. That achievement means you knew that doing
‘well would require dedication of your time and energy to studying, to attending
class, to engaging your teachers and fellow students in discussion and, as the old
saying goes, “to burn the mid-night oil”. The English writer and scholar Isaac
D'lsraeli spoke of the commitment to excellence when he wrote:
Ieis.a wretched waste to be gratified with mediocrity when the excellent lies before us.
All the faculty and staff at Western Oregon University are proud of the personalized
educational experience that is available here and we are especially proud when
students, like you, demonstrate the ability and the desire to achieve excellence in
your classes.
Congratulations and best wishes as you continue your studies.
Sincerely,
