Dear all,

In respect to the request for the description of terms and conditions for representative candidacy
of all law firms as well as the attorney’s election for the Bar Chamber of the Republic of
Northern Macedonia, we are informing you of the following:

- Bar Chamber of the Republic of Northern Macedonia is, in accordance with the article 10
of the Bar Chamber Statute, territorially organized in Law Societies (LS). Law Societies
are established for the area of each Basic Court, except for the area of Basic Courts of
the City of Skopje where there are four Law Societies (LS Skopje 1; LS Skopje 2; LS
Skopje 3; LS Skopje 4). Lawyers, as members of the Chamber, exercise their rights
through the Law Societies of which they are members.
- In accordance with the article 14 of the Bar Chamber Statute, among their most
prominent and experienced members, lawyers elect their representatives for Chamber
Assembly which is the highest regulatory body of Bar Chamber. When selecting lawyers
to be representatives for Chamber Assembly, fellow lawyers consider the following
parameters: candidates’ contribution to their Law Society and to the Chamber as a
whole, candidates’ participation in the activities of their Law Society and the Chamber as
a whole, candidates’ integrity, previous experience in legal profession, attitude towards
legal profession, whether the candidate breached law on advocacy, Bar Chamber
Statute, bar code or any other legal acts or bylaws related to practice of law.
- Each Law Society’s candidate for the Chamber Assembly must be nominated by the
fellow lawyer that is the member of the Society. Nominated candidates for representative
in the Chamber Assembly will be elected by a simple majority of members' votes.
- In accordance with the article 14 of the Bar Chamber Statute, members of the Law
Societies elect one representative per every ten members of the Society. If the number
of the remaining members of the Law Society is larger than five, one more
representative will be elected.
