Radya Pustaka Museum is a museum located in Solo, Central Java, Indonesia. The
museum was founded during the government of Pakubuwono IX by Kanjeng Raden Adipati
Sosrodiningrat IV in Kepatihan on October 28, 1890. then the museum was moved to its
current location is, at Jalan Slamet Riyadi, Surakarta, on January 1, 1913. At that time the
museum was the residence of a Dutch citizen named Johannes Busselaar.
Radya Museum Pustaka are not under the Region Government , but the status of the
foundation. The foundation is named Foundation Paheman Radyapustaka Surakarta and
was formed in 1951.
In the front yard, in front of the museum, visitors will find a bust of R. Ng. Rangga
Warsita, he is a poet Surakarta very famous and lived in the 19th century, in the front yard
there are also several cannons from the VOC era from the 17th century until the 18th
century. Meanwhile there are also some small cannons belonged to Keraton Kartasura.
In the room of Radya Museum Pustaka has a collection comprising of many kinds
statues, traditional heritage, wayang kulit and ancient books. Collection of ancient books
that are people looking for is about Wulang Reh written by Pakubuwono IV which the
contents are about government instructions and Serat Rama written by poet Surakarta
named Yasadipura which the contents are about of the wiracarita Ramayana.
in the western of the room there is a giant head sculpture made of wood and were
the work of Pakubuwono V when he was still a crown prince. The statue amount is actually
two: the other one is kept in Keraton Surakarta. This statue is decoration front of a ship used
to take the queen Pakubuwono IV originating from Madura.

Museum radya pustaka is open from Tuesday until Sunday from 9 a.m - 2:00 p.m WIB. To
remembering historical of solo city we must visit this place.
