ENTONATION

In English, Intonation is the melodic pattern of an utterance. So, it is primarily a matter

of variation in the pitch level of the voice, but stress and rhythm are also involved. Also
is how our voice rises and falls when we are speaking.

Intonation is the way the pitch of your voice goes up and down as you talk or reciting
something by singing it. An example of intonation is the way your voice raises in pitch
at the end of a question.

For example:

What are you doing last week? → Falling Intonation

Are you sad? → Rising Intonation

Is this your car ? → Fall-rise Intonation

The types of intonation patterns in English:

Falling intonation: that describes the falling of the voice at the final stressed syllable.

Rising intonation: is common in yes-no questions and finally and describes the rising
of the voice at the end of the sentence

Fall-rise intonation: Is used at the end of the statement when we aren`t sure about
something or when want information or in invitations. Fall-rise intonation describes
how the voice falls in the sentences.
