Is homework harmful or helpful?

Nowadays, schools and teachers are giving more and more homework to student as they believe
that homework will be helpful in their study. Yet some parents doubt it and believe that homework is
another suffers for their children. After all, homework has its own boon and bane and it’s all about
which aspect do we explore from. In my opinion, I strongly believe that homework is more helpful than
harmful.

First of all, homework is always given by teacher or lecturer in the form of paperwork or
computer document after classes. This is because homework can help students to revise or recall what
they have learnt. Many experts have agreed that homework is more helpful to student in study rather
than only listening to lecturer or teacher in classes. In this case, knowledge that student have acquire
would not be easily forgotten. In short, homework is a helpful instrument in aiding students’ study.

Next, homework also helps student avoid time wastage and prevent them participate in some
unhealthy event. It is said so because, students tend to spend their extra time surfing internet or getting
themselves in some bad activities such as smoking, loitering in malls and illegal racing. If homework is
available for student, they would not have time to involve in this kind of activities. As a result, time
wastage will also be prevented. So, homework can help student from wasting their precious time and
avoiding them to take part in some unhealthy activities.

Homework also can help a student to improve their study. This is because, student will be able
to find out their own weakness through homework. In this case, student can improve which part they
are weak in. In a long run, they will be able to have a good performance in their examination and pass it
with flying colors.

Last but not least, student will be more self-disciplined. This is because student need to pass up
their homework in a limited time. So they need to plan their schedule very well in order to hand in their
homework before deadline. As time goes by, students’ attitude toward the way of doing things will
change and becoming more self-discipline. So, homework can really help a student become more
disciplined.

In conclusion, homework really brings a lot benefits to student after all. As a result, it is more
helpful than harmful to students.
