From the Desk of Organising Secretary

Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the organising committee we are pleased to invite you to
participate in International CME on Surgical Pathology at Krishna Institute of Medical
Sciences University, Karad. The CME is scheduled on 23rd & 24th August 2013.
The CME aims to discuss and expose the participants to the state-of-the-
art knowledge in surgical pathology. Over the last few decades the branch of surgical
pathology has developed so much that today its relevence is not only as a diagnostic
modality but it also has the predictive values to be used by clinicians and oncologists
to plan appropriate treatment for their patients. The two days CME will comprise
lectures as well as case based discussions and will provide a forum for debate. We
are sure the scientific sessions would be beneficial to practising consultants,
clinicians and post-graduate students.
The CME is organised at KIMS University which is the brainchild of former
Chancellor Shri. Jaywantrao Bhosale. His vision was to establish a health care set up
for the rural population. To fulfil his vision, he initially started Krishna Hospital &
Medical Research Centre in 1982 and later on in 1984 established Krishna Institute
of Medical Sciences, one of the first private medical college in Maharashtra. Ever
since there has been no stone left unturned by the management to take rapid strides
in the overall development of this institute. In 2005 it was conferred “Deemed
University” status by Govt. of India. It is now recognized as an Institute of repute not
only in India but also abroad.
Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA, is a premier institute in the field of
medical education. The distinguished faculty from there will be guiding the CME.
This unique association is a landmark development and will be remembered for
years to come. I am sure this CME will bring to you the latest updates in surgical
pathology with a wide range of topics to suit your taste.
The organising committee will try its best to provide you all possible
logistics to make your stay in Karad comfortable and pleasant.
We have applied for credit hours from Maharashtra Medical Council.
On behalf of the organising committee I extend a warm welcome to you and
hope this mega event will be a memorable one.

Dr. M. V. Ghorpade,
Organising Secretary,
