Present perfect simple

Use: To talk about an action that happened in the past but we don’t
specify when the action happened.

Structure: Subject + has / have + 3rd column (past participle) +

complement

Auxiliary verb:
Ø Has (She / He / It) – hasn’t (has not)
Ø Have (I / We / you / They) – haven’t (have not)

Examples:

(-) We have not eaten sushi before

Use: It indicates when the action
started
Examples:
Since last night; Since last year;
Since my birthday; Since I left

Since 9:00 o’clock in the morning.
Use: Duration of the activity
Examples:
For a year; For a week; For a decade;
For 5 minutes; For 10 hours; For a
