YES!

By: Romeo C. Nieves, Jr.

Yes!
Right there,
Under that dead sycamore tree
Trying to ponder the rhetorical question
Is this what you get when you loved genuinely?
All you did was to love them, but left traumatized
Benign me whose heart is a lamb
Too fragile, meek,
and innocent.
Yes!
Right there,
You believed that you had red strings
Trusted all the sweet words that were only evident at first
Too good to be true, thus destroyed the stillness of your unobtrusive life
Like a serpent in the tree of knowledge full of fabrications
It was a big fraud! Don’t be cuckolded
Yet, you fell in the abyss of lies
Hopeless
Yes!
It ended right there.
The only bystander was the perky moon
My loud hollers echoed at night with no sound
The tranquillity of the dusky evening broke me to pieces
I used to have faith in rhymed patterns of love
But there is no such thing
I was lost, marveled,
and found dead.
Yes!
