Types of Animals on the basis of Excretory Products:

Animals are categorized into three groups on the basis of the nitrogenous waste they eliminate from their body. They
are:
1. Ammonotelic
2. Ureotelic
3. Uricotelic

 Ammonotelic:
Those animals which principally eliminate ammonia (NH3) as their nitrogenous waste are called Ammonotelic
and this process of elimination of ammonia from the body is called ammonotelism.

Synthesis of Ammonia:
During the metabolism of proteins and nucleic acids aminoacids are produced. Ammonia is produced due to
deamination of amino acids ie, removal of amino group (NH2) from the amino acid. The released amino group
accepts hydrogen atom and forms ammonia. This process of formation of ammonia is called oxidative
deamination of amino acids

 This synthesis of ammonia is a less energy consuming process.

 It is highly soluble in water and diffuses rapidly across cell membrane.
 Ammonia is a highly toxic substance as it tends to raise the pH of the body fluids and interfere in the
membrane transport functions.
 Due to its high toxicity, it can’t be stored in the body for a long period of time therefore it has to
removed immediately Baja aka aghhhh
