Aristotle believes that a human being lives well when she/he acts rightly and possesses all
virtues both intellectual and those relating to good character because obtaining these virtues of
character which make up Aristotle’s highest good will lead to his/her attainment of Eudaimonia,
a Greek word which often translates to happiness as well as human flourishing. Aristotle does
not believe that human beings going after material and bodily pursuits as well as pursuit of
honor will not attain Eudaimonia. He reasons that material pursuits are only satisfied in order to
acquire more material pursuits, satisfying only bodily desires are traits that animals display, and
fighting for honor only affects other people’s views on the person but that does not bring out
his/her highest good. As Aristotle explains, the full and complete use of our human faculties will
lead to the highest good that we can attain and do. And what makes us humans in the first place
is our capacity to reason which is only unique to us. As such, Aristotle argues that a human being
that acts rightly and develops the right character virtues through hardships and experience while
also acquiring the necessary intellectual virtues, also identified as scientific knowledge, through
learning will live a good life.

2. On the area of social justice, one is obligated to help the marginalized people through equal
access to human rights and needs such as wealth, justice, health, well-being, privileges as well as
equal standings in legal, political and economic circumstances in order for them to live as well as
possible. As claimed by Aristotle, the use of laws can help to improve the character of people.
Improving the character of individuals will lead to better treatment towards the marginalized
people which in turn leads to acceptance that will help the populace live life better. Supporting
equal rights and the laws protecting these rights is an obligation that one must fulfill. Promotion
of privileges of marginalized people through protests and peace rallies can also help to inform
the public of any discrimination being done. However, helping marginalized people in the wrong
way such as attacking or provoking the other party should never be done as it will only lead to
the general populace not taking your agendas and goals seriously but will also undermine any
progress you have done to help those marginalized people to live better lives. Through social
justice, your goals should be achieved through peaceful means such as government programs,
social campaigns and public activism to ensure that not only will you legally and lawfully help
but you can also take one step closer to being an example of Aristotle’s virtuous man.
