It is argued that now it is the best time in history to be alive since the latest scientific

improvements benefit greatly both our way of live and our lifespan. This essay disagrees with this
statement because even though improvements are notorious in certain areas, there are others
where humanity still needs to grow. To explain this first we will discuss how these technological
advancements have also influenced modern wars and second the quality of life for poor countries
in contrast with richer nations.

War never changes. As time goes by and technology advances, further are the investments in
developing and manufacturing different tools for warfare. Maybe sword fighting is not really
common nowadays but the threat of a nuclear war between the greatest nations is always there.
Advances in medicine might allow people to live more than a hundred years, but a single bomb in
Japan killed thousands in a heartbeat during World War II.

Life must be really happy in modern nations, but living in countries where there are not enough
resources to ensure high quality standards of life might not be an easy task. In poor countries,
crime and fighting are still common ways to try to escape or enhance their current way of life. For
example in the Philippines is really common to find people with low resources learning brutal and
lethal fighting styles like Muay Thai to compete and earn money to support their families. Probably
not all of those forced down this path will think that there is not a better time to be alive.

In conclusion, this essay completely disagrees with the statement that there is not a better time to
be alive than now because science progress also turns into the development of modern warfare
equipment and there are still huge gaps between developed and undeveloped nations regarding
life standards.
