There are many ways to learn another language.

This essay will compare three of the most

common and popular ones: taking lessons as part of a class, with a private tutor or online.

Interaction with other people, with a similar level in a different language is one of the main
advantages of studying in a classroom. Even though people might not be speaking with natives,
they should benefit from the variety of ideas that come from others and the assistance of a
trained instructor. Nevertheless, many struggle with class schedules that do not match with their
own or the mobility in the city to arrive early to their lesson.

If money is not an issue, time and location can both be negotiated with a private tutor. These
individuals can also give the student personalized training based on their current needs and skills,
being this the biggest highlight they can offer. As stated early though, this option might not be
cheap at all and turns finance into an important drawback when considering a tutor for hire.

Trying to mix both convenience and budget, online classes become an important alternative. This
option is usually the most flexible, giving the participant the liberty to study whenever and
wherever it suits them better. An important disadvantage is that online courses will probably have
the least interaction with other people and without it fluency can be hard to achieve.

As a personal opinion, I believe that the advantages of taking classes within a classroom with other
people greatly outweighs its drawbacks and gives the learner the opportunity to further develop
their competency skills in a foreign language.

In conclusion, three common methods for learning languages have been compared and being part
of a class has been considered the most effective.
