Based on the articles by Bartels (2009) and Golombek, (2009), I have gained some concepts

that develop teacher’s knowledge and professional development. One of the concepts that
relevant to me is that Second Language Teacher Education (SLTE) should focus on providing
learning experiences in which second language (L2) teachers can acquire knowledge from
participating in activities. Teachers should be participating in activities crucial to teaching so
they can relate their knowledge into practice. However, teachers should learn to design and
carry out deliberate practice activities that help them acquire the knowledge about language.
Established, effective training from teacher or coach by deliberate practice is:
i) Leaving one’s comfort zone during practice
ii) Specific goals broken down into small changes that build upon specific skills.
iii) Full attention and focus during practice sessions
iv) Receiving feedback and modifying performance based upon that feedback. This
practice and feedback allows one to build and improve effective mental
representations
Besides that, based on the article by Golombek describes the personal practical knowledge of
teachers in teacher education. It mainly highlights the phenomenological study of teacher
experiences and their personal beliefs and professional demands. Teacher have the talent to
describe an event and linked the event to the topic of the day. It can be a very good set
induction sometimes. This will eventually increase student’s attention towards the lesson. It
can also be incorporated into the post-active session. However, teachers should develop a
good relationship with students. Based on my opinion, an integration of knowledge about
language and personal practical knowledge can help teacher trainees to perform better in
working places.
In a nutshell, I think I have gained some important lesson in my future teaching. I believe that
teaching is the most amazing job that can predicts students future and the next generation.
Teachers are the role models and can set up standards among society.
