Key Learning Prompts:

This module has been really eye-opening about how important to take an organizational behavior
course, when wanting to be in a leadership position. The most valuable piece of information I took away
from this module is how much gender, race, age, religions, physical abilities, and sexual orientation
impact the workplace culture.

For myself, I scored as an individualism. This did not come to a surprise to be because I do like to set
myself apart from others professionally. I do not like to be average and I always strive for bigger and
better things. At the same time, it did come as a surprise because I do focus a lot on the "team" aspect
of things. I always want to make people feel comfortable, lend a helping hand, and be the person one
goes to when they have a question. I like to keep a family like atmosphere at work because it is our
home away from home.

Being that I primarily work in a predominantly male workforce, section 2.2 of the book, really made me
take a step back and think why we do not have many females in my industry. When I take over my new
position, I am wanting to change the atmosphere revolving the negative stereotypes surrounding
women in a predominantly male industry and in general. I want all people to step on to my oil lease
feeling comfortable and wanted, as long as you have good work ethic and passion, I do not care what
your gender, race, religion, age, sexual orientation, and physical abilities are.

I have always known that there is diversity in the workplace, and it can lead to issues that cause bad
workplace culture. This module and the readings gave me a better understanding about diversity in the
workplace, and how to combat the issues the arise because of it.

Applications Prompts:

This week, I am going to start being more vigilant about my perception and make sure that my
perception is rational. I want to be a leader, who ensures my team that I will not "jumps the gun".

When it comes to thinking or behaving, I want to be aware of what situations get me to behave or act a
certain way. If I act a way that effects my employees or team members negatively, I want to take steps
to change that.

In my personal life I want to change the perception of myself, I always have that feeling that I should be
doing more or that I should be "further along", but I need to remind myself that I am exactly right where
I need to be. If I were not, I would not have my fiancé by my side.
