What is Matter?
o Matter is anything/objects that occupies space
o Everything we can see is matter
o Matter is made of small molecules
3 Types of Matter
Solid
Keep their shape
Have definite shape and volume
Molecules are close together
Liquid
Do not keep their shape
Particles are closely packed to each other but much farther apart in solid particles.
Have definite volume but do not have definite shape.
Gas
Has no definite shape or volume
Particles are very far away from each other
Particles move very quickly
The teacher prepared a short song about on the topic entitled “State of Matter”
Group 1
Below the pictures, paste or put the corresponding color needed by the pictures.
( Blue colored paper for the liquid)
( Green colored paper for the solid)
(Red colored paper for the gas)
Group 2
Draw an object at least (2) for solid, liquid, gas and explain it in front together with
your activity.
Group 3
Make a poster/slogan that relates to state of matter and present it in front of your
classmate
CRITERIA:
Content- 30 points
Creativity- 20 points
Cleanliness- 15 points
Unity - 10 points
Delivery- 25 points
Total - 100points
Generalization:
The students will learn the state of matter and its properties.
They can distinguish objects weather it is a solid, liquid or gas.
They can apply the important knowledge for identifying things/objects according to it’s
properties.
Evaluation/Assessment
Test I.
Directions: Identify what properties of matter the following objects. Write S if it is Solid, and L
if it is Liquid and G if it is Gas. Write your answer on the space provided.
Assignments
Direction: In a short bond paper lists all the things that you have in your house. Sort
them from solid, liquid and gas. Write as much as you can and present it in front of
your classmate.
