Lesson Observation #2 – 26/08/2019

Class: 7 Wonga Humanities

Inquiry Question: How can the implementation of ICT help the integration of differentiation
in the classroom?

TMA NOTES:

- Good interaction with class group in jovial fashion (PE jokes, Microsoft templates
etc.)

- Good calling out of kids not paying attention

- Re-cap from last class always a good cue in for the current lesson

- Also good to go over a task again – like you said, kids who were away and a reminder
for those that were present

- Good flexibility bringing extra kid into class to keep him in the game – while this is
not always possible, it’s great when you create the opportunity for this to occur.

- One thing with the concept of creativity – it’s a bit of a tricky one. We often assume
that kids are enthusiastic and creative because of their youth and innocence. While
this is often true, they often don’t understand the concept of being creative. There
are times where the phrase “be creative” is a blocker for kids (hard to start, know
what to do, have direction etc.). I have found discussing / brainstorming what
creativity is with kids first (generation of multiple ideas and formats, representing
information in a variety of styles, creating interest by catering for a variety of
readers, uniqueness, synthesis of multiple ideas/sources etc.) and then providing
examples of how they can be creative in the specific task can be beneficial.

- Good verbal explanation of task, and good decision to provide an example of a cover
page. Really clear and straightforward explanation.

- Good offering the chance for public questions and then following up on smaller scale
(table groups, 1 to 1)

- Good wandering and providing individualised support for kids. As you demonstrated
in your explanations, some need more guidance / encouragement / assistance

- Nice lesson finish
