intense weather, for example: more hurricanes, floods, droughts, extremely high and very cold temperatures.
It is affecting wildlife all over the world,
but some species are suffering more than others. Polar animals – whose icy natural habitat is melting in the warmer temperatures – are particularly at risk.
Climate change affects animals and
people, too. Most affected are some of the people who grow the food we eat every day. Farming communities work the land and they are facing higher temperatures, increased rain, floods and droughts.
How can I help prevent climate change?
Small changes in your own home can make a difference, too. Try to use energy-saving lightbulbs, walk instead of using the car, turn off electrical items when you are not using them, recycle and reduce your food waste. All these little things can make a difference.
