urban designer in urban wellbeing by finding parameters and
conducting a survey and REDESIGNING BALTIMORE CITY, USA by
applying these parameters.

the aim of this study is to establish relationship between

‘importance of place and concept of happiness’, by selection of
urban design features to analyse the relationship withsef-
reported happiness of the residents of ROTTERDAM city.

ESTABLISHES A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CULTURE, CITIES, ARTS

AND HAPPINESS.

IN CAIRO AS A FEASIBLE STRATEGY TO IMPROVE HAPPINESS
SUMMARY

this paper relates mental health, well-being, happiness to urban environment

and heritability and presents some key concepts and theories of happiness and
wellbeing, circumplex model of affect, eudaimonia, PERMA, and environment
preference and concludes the importance of place quality for wellbeing and
happiness in urban areas, including the visually appleaing "beauty of urban
settings".

this paper establishes parameters such as light, nature, surprise, identity,

sociality, access and defines happiness of level 1, level 2, level 3, and four
approaches for measuring hppiness i.e., economic, direct psychology, inderict
psychology, neuroscience and understanding these parameters through
selected findings , application to text case and highlights the importance of
work moving forward in finding direct design and policy applications of
scientific studies but doesnt not confirm the working results of applied
strategies.

the study intends to explain the relationship between urban design features-
urban facilities, greenery, public space, transport nodes and mixed use and
happiness of residents in the neighbourhoods of city of Rotterdam. However,
on implications and applicability of specific features of urban design, it
demands further investigations and suggests future guidelines for research
because of the several limitations of the current study

this study emphasises that cities are the centre for culture and arts and people
who are in frequent contact with arts and culture are more happy and
establishes a correlation between happiness and cultural consumption
supported by large scale surveys such as the german socio ecomomic panel
considered as the best source of data in the world. poses questions such as
does culture make people happy and do happier people attend more cultural
events, and concudes that cities with high cultural activity tend to have happy
people.

this paper evaluates the effect of urban design on three vital components of
happiness : safety and security, social relationships, and healthy lifestyle.and
tries to understand how the urban design of the new communities influences
these three components in comparision to the old neighbourhoods. the study
finds the three factors are highly usefull for increasing happiness but the fourth
factor ( implementation of interventions by the government) is the key and
highly recommends the amendment in egypt's constitution to ensure
representativeness, accountability, and decentrailzation of local governance
institutions as every neighbourhood has its own special set of challenges
