You asked me about places to visit in arequipa so here are some ideas

1. First you should go Sabandia mill this places has beatifull sightseeing this places is out of
towb but you should go
2. Secondly you should go to St. Catalina Monastery . You can see a lot of history and learn
about the architecture ,this building have beatifull colors and has a old garden 
3. Finally you slould go to the square of Yanahuara . You can enjoy de sightseeing and buy a
souvenirs they aren't so expensive. 
You said also want to do some shopping I think you should go Inca Alpaca if you buy clothes or if
you like buy souvenir you should  go Illary. They sell everithing and the shop is amazing
