SOURCES OF ENERGY

Modern life consumes huge amounts of energy for heating, transportation, electricity
production and industrial use. Due to economic progress and a rising standard of
living, the demand for energy is continually increasing. At present, our sources of
energy mostly from fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas). These are non-renewable
sources of energy which, sooner or later, will be exhausted.

In my opinion, we shouldn’t use fossil fuels too much like we have done. As you
know, the production and use of energy derived from these sources cause many of
environmental problems. And the most serious is environmental pollution which is
slowly killing us every second. Therefore, it is necessary for us to find the alternative
sources of energy.

We’re all hearing about alternative sources of energy such as: nuclear power,
geothermal energy, water, wind and the sun which are always available and are never
exhausted.

I suppose that the most potential alternative energy source is the sun. The sun releases
large amounts of energy each day. Many countries use solar energy for their daily
lives. Solar panels on the roof can generate enough energy to heat or cool the entire
home. Solar energy is not only abundant and infinite but also clean and safe.
