A gerund or a participle can be used in a phrase to start off.a sentence. Here care must be
taken to avoid having a dangling modifer, creating a phrase that dangles and that cannot be linked
on in meaning to the main part of the sentence.
Wrong
Skiing bravely down the Alpine slope, my hands ached.
After trying for two days, the experiment was a success.
Correct
Skiing bravely down the Alpine slope, | felt my hands ache.
After trying for two days, we knew the experiment was a success.
Verb and Agreement
> Number affects all verbs in the present tense and was, were in the past.A verb must agree
with the subject; singular subject takes a singular verb (verb + s), and a plural subject takes
a plural verb (without s),

In grammar this time dimension is called tense.
An action or a state can be recorded in present, past or future time according to intention
or need.
