Directions: How to improve the communication process

Communication is one of the most important tools we have for providing great patient
care, improving patient’s satisfaction and good relationship to workers.
To improve the communication process they must do the following:
 They expected to speak with the patient, determine his or her needs and solve problems,
all in proactive manners.
 You must know the word AWARE
 A- Announce your presence.
 W- Welcome the patient.
 A- Ask if there is anything the patient’s needs.
 R- Review what was done and explain when the next service will be.
 E- Exit with a kind word.
 To welcoming a patient you must use a calm voice.
 Willingness to explain information in a new way.
 Allowing your staff to have a voice, listen to their feedback, and make appropriate
changes.
 Ensure all communication remains confidential and secure.
 Encourage mobile collaboration for effective communication between healthcare
professionals.
 Paying attention and being an active listener not only shows your staff you care enough
to be “present”, but that you value their effort and what to know more about their
experience at work.
 Speak honestly, speak directly to people, practice active listening skills, adopt a
participatory management style, and lastly choose your words.
Timely communication can reduce the number of destructive rumours. Negative rumours
can reduce productivity and corrode workplace morale. So effective, honest
communication can reduce the number of negative rumours that seem to circulate when
employees don’t trust what they are being told. As a health practitioner, it is important to
improve the process of communication so that all members of the organization will have
a good and productive relation with each other.
